This applies for flights cancelled between March and June due to COVID-19.
Frequent flyers listen up! Ryanair has just announced that it is swiftly dealing with the backlog of refund applications and has set a target date by which repayments will be effected by the airline.
With all cash refund requests for March cleared, the focus has now shifted on the April flights, 50% of which were cleared by end of June. The airline hopes to clear the remaining 50% by 15th July.
Passengers can also expect their refunds for all May flights and some of June's to be processed by the end of July.
"We are pleased to have made such significant progress over the month of June in eliminating the backlog of cash refunds due to the Covid-19 flight cancellations. Over 90% of passengers who booked directly with Ryanair and who requested a cash refund for travel between March and June will receive their refunds before the end of July," said Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson.
The CEO continued by explaining an added difficulty the airline faced in issuing refunds: "Booking made through unauthorised 3rd party screenscrapers / online travel agencies, have yet to receive their refunds because the OTAs gave Ryanair fake email addresses or virtual credit card details for these customers," he said, emphasizing the need for better regulations to be put in place.
