Spotted! Another nest of loggerhead turtles found in Maltese sands at Għajn Tuffieħa
The public is encouraged to avoid creating any noise or movement in the surrounding area of the nest

The Environment & Resources Authority have announced that another nest of loggerhead turtles was found by the volunteers of Nature Trust Malta at Għajn Tuffieħa earlier today, during a routine morning patrol.

The nest is located close to the surface and the shore, which may become a vulnerable position for the eggs if the weather conditions become unfavourable. For this reason, ERA and Nature Trust Malta may relocate the eggs to a safer location at Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa.

Both entities involved encourage the public to keep noise levels down near the nesting areas and avoiding any movement or light near the nest, which has been cordoned off for the nest’s protection.

We hope to see the hatchlings safely making their way to sea soon!
