Special public transport being organised for this week’s Malta Book Festival
The special services will still be free for all those that hold a valid tallinja card.

With over 40,000 visitors expected to attend The Malta Book Festival 2022 edition, Malta Public Transport has announced a special transport service operating to and from the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali between 23rd and 27th November.

The festival, which is organised by the National Book Council, is the foremost book celebration in the country’s cultural calendar featuring book launches, local and international guest authors, seminars and film screenings amongst other exciting activities.   

To ease travel to the book festival, public buses will operate from Valletta Terminus Bay A1 on the following schedule:

On 23rd and 24th November departures will leave from Valletta at 4:50pm, 5:50pm, 6:50pm and 7:50pm. Departures from MFCC leave at 5:50pm, 6:50pm, 7:50pm and 9:10pm.

The following day, 25th November departures will leave from Valletta at 4:50pm, 5:50pm, 6:50pm, 7:50pm and 8:50pm. Departures from MFCC leave at 5:50pm, 6:50pm,7:50pm, 8:50pm and 10:10pm.

On 26th November departures from Valletta will be every hour with the first bus departing at 9:15am and the last bus departing at 9:15pm. Similarly, departures from MFCC will leave every hour with the first bus leaving at 10:15am and last bus trip at 10:15pm.

On the final day of the festival, 27th November, departures from Valletta leave every hour starting from 9:15am with the last bus trip towards MFCC leaving at 7:15pm. Departures from MFCC to Valletta will leave every hour with the first bus departing at 10:15am and last one at 8:15am.

Malta Public Transport would like to remind the public that Special Services, including the special transport service operating for Malta Book Festival, are included in the Free Public Transport scheme.

In order to benefit from free public transport, passengers are required to own a valid personalised Tallinja Card and tap it against the ticket machine every time they board the bus. Passengers without Tallinja Cards will need to purchase their ticket on board the bus.
