Teatru Astra in Victoria, Gozo, has announced the staging of the iconic musical 'Fiddler on the Roof' as its eighth musical production. The show will be performed on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th, and 30th of March 2025.

This highly anticipated performance was revealed by the Ministry for Gozo and Planning who highlighted the theatre’s role as a hub of excellence for musical productions in Malta.

'Fiddler on the Roof' tells the poignant story of Tevye, a humble milkman in early 20th-century Russia, as he navigates the challenges of preserving his Jewish traditions amidst social and political upheaval. Through unforgettable songs like ‘Tradition,’ ‘Sunrise, Sunset,’ and ‘If I Were a Rich Man,’ the musical explores universal themes of family, love, and resilience. The production invites the audience to immerse themselves in this emotional narrative, enhanced by its evocative music and powerful performances.

Teatru Astra’s quality and professionalism consistently delivers world-class productions. The production will be under the artistic direction of Christopher Gatt, with musical direction by Maestro George Apap. Veteran artist Mark Tonna will star in the lead role of Tevye, bringing the iconic character to life with his trademark depth and warmth. Choreographer Francesco Nicodeme, vocal director Cathy Lawlor, and choir leader Sylvana Attard will also play key roles in delivering a performance of the highest calibre.
