The small chapel of Saint Philip and Saint James in the Maltese locality of San Gwann has been fully restored to be enjoyed by all those who wish to visit.

As it more commonly and locally referred to, Tal-Propostu chapel has undergone extensive restoration works which included the refinement of the chapel’s façade and the repair of the stone that had deteriorated.

Additionally, plaster works were also carried out alongside works on the wooden apertures.

The chapel was originally built in 1730 to service any farmers and their families living nearby. Fr Gaspere Giuseppe Vassallo from the Birkirkara chapter led the initiative.

It was the officially transferred to the Parish of San Gwann in the middle of the 19th century when the Parish of the Conception was established.

The chapel’s altar is home to a titular painting of Saint Philip and Saint James based on the style of Gannikol Buhagiar, a Maltese painter.
