These cruises, organised by Heritage Malta, will kick off on the 8th of June.
An exciting summer awaits as Heritage Malta is set to take visitors on a captivating journey through history with its upcoming harbour cruises for the warmer season.
These cruises will delve into the significant events of the Great Siege of Malta and the Second Great Siege of Malta, also known as World War II. Guided by knowledgeable experts, participants will explore the harbours flanking Valletta, experiencing the strategic locations and underwater heritage linked to these momentous periods.

Kicking off the series on the 8th of June, commemorating World Ocean Day, a special cruise dedicated to World War II will take place. As the main target of Axis air raids during the war, Valletta's harbours hold stories of resilience and struggle.
Matthew Balzan, Heritage Malta's Senior Curator for Fortifications, will provide a detailed account of the dramatic events that unfolded between 1940 and 1943. Prof. Timmy Gambin, leading Heritage Malta's Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit, will shed light on the seabed's underwater heritage resulting from the war.
Two additional cruises will also be held on the 18th and 20th of July, dedicated to immersing participants in the turbulent history of the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. Expert guides from Heritage Malta will recount the intense battles and highlight key strategic buildings and areas in the Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour, crucial to the final victory.

Tickets for each cruise are available at €17 for adults, €15 for seniors and students, and €10 for children up to 11 years old. Heritage Malta members can enjoy a discounted rate of €10 by presenting their membership card on the day of the cruise. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at any Heritage Malta Museum or site.
