‘REVIXIT’: Maltese artist Jo Dounis takes over art space ‘Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq’ in Mqabba
This month, starting Friday 21st June, the artist Jo Dounis will be displaying her works at the exhibition space ‘Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq’ in Mqabba, in an exhibition titled ‘REVIXIT’ curated by Melanie Erixon.
The artist’s sculptural works delve into the realm of 3D, and are made from wood and mixed media elements. The wood used are pieces that she rescued from various locations, in some cases even from outside of Malta. Each sculpture tells the story of the wood’s rescue and its revival.

Jo Dounis was born in Malta and left as a young adult to work in Greece and Italy, returning eighteen years later. Having studied art and interior design, she has always been passionate about colour and design, embedding both into her work.
The local artist’s works can be found in private collections in Malta as well as in North America, Australia, the Middle East and several countries in Europe.
The exhibition will run from 21st June till the 7th July, opening at 7.30pm this Friday.
