Fabio Spiteri, the renowned triathlete known for his relentless determination in endurance racing and his commitment to fundraising for animal shelters across Malta and Gozo, has once again achieved something extraordinary. This time, he completed ‘Project 100’, a gruelling combination of two endurance races, all in the name of supporting local animal shelters.

The first challenge was a ‘5x Ironman’, which Fabio finished in an impressive 92 hours. This immense feat involved swimming 19 km, biking 900 km, and running 211 km – five times the distance of a standard Ironman. His second challenge was the ‘DECA Triathlon’, often described as ‘the ultimate test of human endurance’. Fabio completed the DECA in 264 hours, covering an astonishing 61 km swim, a 1,800 km bike ride, and a 422 km run – ten times the distance of a regular Ironman event.

After five months of fundraising alongside these incredible feats of endurance, the triathlete had managed to raise €74,400. The funds will go towards supporting animal shelters across Malta and Gozo, providing much-needed cash, medicine, and food supplies, as well as aiding individuals who tirelessly care for abused and abandoned animals.

In a post on social media, Fabio thanked everyone who donated, emphasising that there needs to be more awareness on the abuse and abandonment of animals, which places a burden on animal shelters.

Despite not having reached his target of €100,000, Fabio Spiteri is undeterred and already has his sights set on an even greater challenge – a ‘Double DECA Triathlon’ next season!

Well done Fabio Spiteri, for the incredible achievement and generosity!
