Poor thing! Severely injured sea turtle rescued from Gozo’s Ramla Bay
The turtle is very weak but they’re hoping she makes it.

Yesterday, Nature Trust in Gozo got a call that a severely injured turtle had washed up at Ramla l-Hamra bay.

It had a net that was extensively entangled round its neck as well as around its flippers.

Thankfully, the net was removed by the Nature Trust volunteers on site, but the turtle was still very weak.

The family that ended up finding the turtle and taking care of it until Nature Trust arrived, named it ‘Hope’.

Hope was taken over to Malta for veterinary care in the hope she makes it.

Unfortunately, there was a long queue at the Gozo Channel terminal for the Nikolaus ferry but thankfully the crew let Hope skip the queue and took her all the way to Malta for it to receive the emergency care it needed.
