Party like it's 1952! Take a glimpse at a Maltese children's Christmas party from decades ago

It’s Christmas in 1952 in Malta, and a group of young children are celebrating at a party organised by Rediffusion, taking place at what was known as The Knights’ Hall back then, now referred to as the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. This is precisely the scene shown in a vintage photo shared by The National Archives of Malta, taken from the Frans Said Collection.

The children seem to be engaged in a Nativity scene of sorts, with one girl onstage dressed as Mary and holding a doll, while some others stare off into space, seemingly unsure of their role in the scene – an element of Nativity plays that seems to have transcended time!

Can you imagine what Christmas would’ve been like 72 years ago?
