Musical legacy! Carnival float celebrates the passage of time with Malta's DJ father-son duo, Joseph and Denzel Jo Armani
Today marks the reveal of the second part of the Carnival float by Toto Perzuta Carnival Company, featuring Denzel Jo Armani. This year’s float theme, 'The Time Flow', is intended to depict the passage of time, highlighting both the past and the future.
The float’s centerpiece is a towering clock, symbolising the inevitable flow of time. The clock is accompanied by an owl, a symbol representing society’s ever-watchful gaze. The float is split into two distinct worlds - one representing the past with intricate steampunk gears, and the other depicting the future with a sleek, modern space-age design.

Adding a deeply personal touch to the creation, the float features Joseph Armani, a legendary figure representing the past, and his son, Denzel Jo Armani, symbolising the future of sound and music. The dynamic father-son duo is integral to the float’s theme of generational change and the merging of tradition with innovation.
Roderick (Toto) and Raymond (Perzuta), leaders of the Carnival company, have once again demonstrated their exceptional creativity in this remarkable piece, with the float set to be one of the standout attractions of Carnival 2025.
Speaking about the inception of this creative collaboration, Denzel Jo Armani shared, 'This all started when Toto visited us at our studio earlier in 2024. He’s been a big fan of my dad for years, and every year, my dad produces the soundtrack for the dance show that accompanies the float. He proposed the idea of making this year’s float dedicated to the past and the future, using our characters. We were overwhelmed with this proposal, and since then, we’ve immersed ourselves into the Carnival vibes.'
He went on to express the honor of being part of the project: 'It’s a great honour for us to be part of this wonderful experience, and for sure, we’ll remember it for the rest of our lives.'
The 'Time Flow' float serves not only as a visual masterpiece but as a beautiful tribute to both the history of Carnival and its future - which seems quite bright indeed!
