The Isetta 300 roams around Malta, at least once a week, weather permitting.
Rotta Facebook page has recently captured the attention of car enthusiasts with a series of photos showcasing what might just be the smallest car on the road in Malta.
Meet the 1959 BMW Isetta 300, imported all the way from Germany amidst the peak of the pandemic in May 2020.
The owner of Rotta’s social media page claims that the fascination with the Isetta was sparked by a YouTube video featuring the unique and quirky features of this iconic vehicle. Powered by a BMW 300cc engine producing a modest 13 horsepower, coupled with a 4-speed manual gearbox, this pint-sized automobile exudes charm and character.
Unlike its British-built counterparts, this Isetta boasts of the added stability of being a 4-wheeler, making it more agile around bends. The car underwent restoration approximately 15 years ago under the ownership of one of its previous caretakers. The Isetta now goes out for a spin, at least, once a week, weather permitting.
With a total length of 2.25 meters, the Isetta stands as a testament to its compact design. Its diminutive size turns heads and elicits smiles wherever it ventures, particularly because of its single front door.
Most recently, the car made an appearance at the Valletta Concours, where it undoubtedly charmed onlookers with its vintage allure.
In a land known for its narrow streets and tight parking spaces, the BMW Isetta 300 stands tall as the embodiment of compact automotive ingenuity.
Have you ever seen the Isetta 300 roaming around the Maltese streets?
