Meet Roseann & Sam: the Maltese couple travelling the globe one wonder at a time
Travel goals right here!

Being on the little island we call home, us locals love to venture off to other countries to explore different lands, cultures and cuisines. But we ain't got a patch on this Maltese couple, who love travelling so much that they’re practically doing it as a full-time gig.

Roseann and Samuel are two 25-year-olds who have been travelling together for the past six years. “Between university timetables and studies, we always managed to dedicate long weekends and time off from studying to travel. As we started working full-time, we continued travelling, and meanwhile saving up money best we could.

Rose and Sam were also their friends and family’s go-tos for suggestions, recommendations and travel tips for upcoming holidays. “About three years ago, when we came back from our holiday, Rose decided to start writing about the experience on a Wordpress blog,” Sam says. This led to their website, where they give travel tips to others who have been bitten by the travel bug. “From day one, our aim was to help people travel better, and easier.” They’ve even set up their Facebook page and YouTube channel.

So how did they manage to drop everything and travel the world? “We wanted to travel, but never went for it because we thought it wasn’t the right time. Until we realised that there would never be a right time. You just have to go for it!”

Currently travelling in Bali, Indonesia and making their way to the Sulawesi island, Rose and Sam give a little advice for those who want to do the same thing. “Get your priorities right,” they say. “Focus on the reward and don’t spend your money on unnecessary stuff. Owning less doesn’t mean being less happy. This mantra, along with minimalistic concepts, has helped us save a lot of money before we set off on this journey. For us, travelling is definitely more fulfilling than materialistic things.

And now, their 10-month travel-versary is coming up, and they decided to do something close to their hearts. “We reached out to a school on the island of Sulawesi. If all goes to plan, we will be helping out the students with their English learning, and they will be teaching us how to make chocolate (from scratch) and harvest coffee.” A pretty fair deal, if you ask us!

“We love to think of ourselves as ‘social travellers’ – a term we coined because when we travel, we always try to mingle with locals, learn about their traditions, and help out if possible. We love this kind of travelling because it allows us to fully immerse ourselves in a country. And as we always say, cheers to more travels!”
