Marsa player thanks locals for ‘being so amazing’ as donations pour in for baby son diagnosed with cancer
“Thank you Malta”

When kids are in trouble, especially sick kids, the Maltese rally together and help get the family through and it was no exception for Marsa FC player, Patrick Maia.

The Brazilian footballer playing in Malta took to social media to thank locals for donating and showing their support after his baby son, Luca, got diagnosed with lymphoma cancer.

“I’d like to thank the Maltese people, you’re being so amazing to my son,” he shared in a heartfelt post on social media.  And I have no words to thank you and show you my [gratitude]. My son will make all of you so proud of him. I couldn’t be in a better place right now. Thank you Malta.”

Baby Luca has undergone a biopsy and the family is awaiting the result. He will also be transferred to the Rainbow Ward at Mater Dei to fight his battle.

It’s been especially tough for the family as Maia’s livelihood was impacted after all organised sports were banned in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19. And the lifting of such a ban has yet to be given a target date like other sectors that will be opening either next week (schools and non-urgent surgeries) or on 26th April (non-essential shops and services).

Donations

For those who would like to contribute to Luca’s cause, you can do so via:

1. Revolut: 9979 7986

2. BOV Mobile Pay: 9979 7986

3. Bank transfer: IBAN - MT95 VALL 2201 3000 0000 4002 4490 025

We're rooting for you, little one!
