Malta Public Transport to increase bus trips for 2023 Book Festival

Malta Public Transport will be operating additional trips on routes serving Ta’ Qali for the upcoming Book Festival 2023 at MFCC. These routes will be operating at a higher frequency to cater for peaks in demand from Wednesday, 18th to Sunday 22nd October 2023.

Route 56 (Valletta – Dingli):

-       From Wednesday to Friday, Route 56 will include the following additional trips:

-       Departures from Valletta to Dingli at 7:15pm and 8:15pm.

-       Departures from Dingli to Valletta at 7:20pm and 8:20pm.

-       These trips will provide passengers travelling along this route with a bus service until the closing time of the event.

Route 186 (Rabat – Bugibba):

-     Route 186 will continue to operate according to its regular schedule, with departures from Rabat every half hour.

-     The last trip from Rabat will be at 8:45pm, and the route passes through Ta’ Qali at approximately 9pm

Route 202 (Rabat – Sliema):

-     Route 202 will operate from Rabat with a half-hour frequency until 6pm, followed by an hourly schedule from 6pm to 10pm.

-     The service from Sliema will run every half hour until 6:30pm, followed by an hourly schedule from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

Additional Weekend Trips:

-       On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd October, Route 56 will follow the schedule mentioned above.

-       Route 202 will operate an additional eight trips from Sliema to Rabat between 11am and 6pm, and from Rabat to Sliema between 11:30am and 6:30pm, with an hourly frequency to cater for additional demand.

All personalised Tallinja Card holders can travel free of charge, while cash tickets at €2 per passenger will be available for purchase from the bus ticket machine for any passengers who do not have a valid Tallinja Card. Visitors from abroad can also benefit from the Tallinja Explore Flex option, priced at €2.85 per trip.
