Summer is a time for vibrant festivities, delicious food and unforgettable experiences. What better way to kick off the season than by joining Vini e Capricci on their rooftop terrace for their fabulous two summer events; the annual Mnarja Traditional Dinner and the One-of-a-Kind Wine Master Class, conducted by their in-house Master Sommelier Fabien Etienne?

The Annual Mnnarja Traditional Dinner

In the heart of the Mediterranean lies a tiny island nation with a rich tapestry of traditions and a deep-rooted cultural heritage. Among the myriad of festivities that grace its shores, one stands out for its vibrancy, joy, and profound significance. Enter Mnarja, the annual celebration that takes Malta by storm every 29th of June, captivating both locals and visitors alike.

Steeped in history, Mnarja weaves together the threads of ancient Roman fertility rites and the veneration of Malta's patron saints, St. Peter and St. Paul. As the sun begins to warm the Mediterranean shores, this beloved festival springs to life, commemorating the martyrdom of these revered saints.

Mnarja

Picture the landscape aglow with the flickering flames of countless bonfires, illuminating the night sky. The air crackles with excitement as families and friends gather around, sharing laughter, stories, and traditional Maltese treats. The bonfires, reminiscent of ancient rituals, symbolise hope, purity, and the triumph of light over darkness.

No celebration is complete without music, and Mnarja is no exception. Traditional Maltese melodies fill the air, inviting everyone to dance and revel in the joyous atmosphere. The rhythmic beats of drums, the melodic strumming of guitars, and the soulful sounds of local instruments blend harmoniously, creating an irresistible urge to move one's feet.

Mnarja

Mnarja is a feast for the senses, and nowhere is this more apparent than in its vibrant food fair. The aroma of freshly prepared delicacies wafts through the air, beckoning visitors to explore the culinary wonders of Malta. Traditional dishes, lovingly crafted from locally sourced ingredients, offer a tantalising glimpse into the island's gastronomic heritage. From hearty stews and succulent seafood to sweet pastries and aromatic wines, there's something for everyone's tastebuds.

To honour traditions, Vini e Capricci will be hosting their annual Mnarja Traditional Dinner on their Rooftop Terrace, with live entertainment by violinist George Curmi, “il-Pusè”. Of course, one cannot forget to mention the carefully crafted menu, showcasing an array of tantalising dishes made with love and passion and wines that pair exquisitely.

Cordero San Giorgio Wine Master Class

And, on the subject of flavours and wines, the 16th of June brings forth a fusion of tradition and innovation. In 2019, the enterprising siblings Francesco, Lorenzo, and Caterina Cordero embarked on a new adventure outside of Piedmont. They acquired the historic estate of Tenuta San Giorgio, nestled in the picturesque hills of Oltrepò Pavese in Lombardia.

With vineyards ageing over 30 years, the wines produced by Cordero San Giorgio exude depth, complexity and beauty, making them a testament to the region’s rich winemaking heritage. Vini e Capricci is proud to share all this with you.

Wine Master Class

Mnarja, with its captivating melodies, thrilling horse races, and tantalising flavours, embodies the essence of Malta's cultural soul. It is a celebration that ignites the spirit, bringing communities together and welcoming the world to experience the island's extraordinary traditions. The Cordero San Giorgio Wine Master Class will give a taste of the Italian heritage of winemaking while reflecting on the strong relations that Malta always had and still has with Italy and its culture.

Are you looking forward to summer events?
