Next week will be an exciting one for rower Mark Schembri, who will be competing at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Genoa, Italy between the 13th and 15th September.

Mark Schembri will be competing against some of the best rowers in the world, including Olympic medalists, at one of the biggest events in the rowing world that brings together athletes from over 40 countries.

Earlier this summer, Mark made history becoming the first Maltese registered rower to win Gold in a Coastal Rowing race, at the 2024 Ocean to City 28km Endurance Regatta in Ireland - his local rowing club had shared their pride at Mark's 'dream come true'.

Mark is a seasoned internationally competitive rower, having also rowed for Malta at the Heraklion Mediterranean Beach Games in Crete, and competed at the 2019 and 2015 editions of the games too. Fingers crossed that his winning streak runs on for the rest of 2024!

Best of luck in this new challenge Mark!
