Neil Agius has become a household name, not only in open-water swimming, but in inspiration and drive, after his world-record-breaking 142.3 km swim around Malta and Gozo. And now, he’s getting the global recognition that he deserves, being nominated for WOWSA (World Open Water Swimming Association) awards – Performance of the Year and Man of the Year.

In a social media post sharing the exciting news, Neil wrote that ‘These nominations are not just about a single swim – they celebrate human resilience, determination, and the relentless pursuit of the impossible’, admitting that that finding out about this level of recognition ‘feels like a dream’. Neil’s been recognised in these awards before, placing second in the WOWSA International Man of The Year Award back in 2022.

Well done, Neil!
