This is your last chance to apply for a tal-Linja Card and get it for free! The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works has just announced that you can apply for a tal-Linja Card, free of charge, until the end of February 2024.

This initiative is aimed at anyone who does not currently own a tal-Linja Card of their own and who would like to obtain one to benefit from free public transport across Malta and Gozo. This strategic move builds on the Government's commitment to incentivise alternative transport modes.

In October 2022, Malta made history by offering free bus services to the entire population, positioning itself as the second European country with free public transport. The impact was profound, as official statistics for 2023 revealed a significant surge in bus ridership, totalling 67.3 million passengers compared to 49.6 million in 2022.

Recent developments extend this commitment to include complimentary ferry transport in Port il-Kbir and free access to the lift in Valletta. The holistic environmental approach aims to boost sea transport and provide substantial savings, with users potentially retaining up to €780 annually.

Beyond February, administrative fees will apply, emphasising the urgency for people to seize this cost-free opportunity and contribute to the development of sustainable communities in Malta.

Have you applied for a tal-Linja Card yet?
