Following its sold-out debut last year, Jazz Assemblea is back, and once again it’s buzzing with local talent! The festival returns for its second edition from 30th October to 2nd November at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta, with satellite events kicking off on 23rd October.
With more than 60 local musicians taking part, this year’s edition celebrates the full spectrum of Malta’s vibrant jazz scene – from emerging artists making their mark to seasoned performers who’ve shaped the genre for decades. Across 18 live performances, audiences can expect everything from lunchtime sets to toe-tapping evening concerts.
One of this year’s highlights is the album launch of SUPERNOVA by acclaimed Maltese composer and musician Ray Agius, promising a night of smooth sounds and creativity.
But Jazz Assemblea isn’t just about the performances – it’s also centred around community, collaboration, and learning. The festival will feature a special showcase by students from the Malta School of Music, alongside free public workshops and panel discussions led by established Maltese jazz artists. And for those who love a bit of spontaneity, the late-night open jam sessions will bring musicians and fans together for a true celebration of improvisation.

Returning this year is ‘Jazz Vignettes: Fragments, Connected’, a multidisciplinary exhibition curated by Ġużè Camilleri. Running from 25th September to 9th November 2025, it delves into the Maltese jazz scene of the 1970s and 1980s, highlighting artists like Joe Smith, Charles ‘City’ Gatt – including an exclusive short documentary In City’s Rhythm – and Walter Vella, who presents Connections, a new series of glass sculptures inspired by the fluid nature of jazz.
