This year’s edition of the highly anticipated MICHELIN Guide Malta has finally been launched, and it’s brought along some new additions!

The guide features 30 restaurants situated all around Malta and Gozo, five of which have been awarded One MICHELIN Star and four of which have been awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand. The remaining 21 restaurants are a part of the MICHELIN Guide Malta 2022.

MICHELIN Stars are awarded to the best restaurants around the world, with a single restaurant being capable of receiving anywhere from one to three stars at one time. This honour remains bestowed upon an establishment for a year, after which point inspectors re-assess the restaurants.

The Bib Gourmand, whilst not quite a star, is still an extremely prestigious title. Such an honour recognises friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.

Now, onto the winners…

All five restaurants that were awarded One MICHELIN Star in last year’s edition of the guide have retained their status. The restaurants are as follows: Under Grain (Valletta), Noni (Valletta), ION – The Harbour (Valletta), De Mondion (Mdina), and Bahia (Balzan).

One restaurant has been newly awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand – Grain Street (Valletta). This spot joins three other restaurants which retain this honour: Terrone (Birgu), Rubino (Valletta), and Commando (Mellieha).
