Is a storm brewing over Malta & Gozo? Here’s what the weather forecast for the first week of September
It seems like Malta is set to experience some dicey weather this week as we welcome in September. Saying goodbye to August means we’ll be entering (hopefully) cooler yet humid months, sprinkled with showers here and there. And it seems like Mother Nature is delivering on her promise.
According to Malta International Airport’s official forecast, it seems we are set to have a sunny start to the week that will turn a little gloomy. Come Wednesday, clouds will start to form which will make way for showers on Thursday. We’ll have a cloudy Friday and possible showers on Saturday. Despite this unstable weather, we should be having a sunny Sunday to end the week.

Feels like temps are meant to reach 35°C today, with an average of 32-33°C for the rest of the week. Don’t be fooled though! Malta’s UV Index is still pretty high, hitting mark 9 at the start of the week and decreasing to mark 8 later on.
Weather site It-Temp Madwarna also confirmed that "storms with isolated thunder are utterly possible," they said, sharing a detailed forecast for the week.
At this time of year, we usually expect what locals call gharajjex ta’ Santa Marija – rainfall that occurs somewhere around the feast of the Assumption on 15th August. So far, nada. Here’s hoping we’ll get some rain to freshen up the land after what seemed to be a brutally hot summer.
