Sam Cassar, the reigning Maltese national champion in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, is making waves on the international scene too! He recently competed in the Third Division in Denmark, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most competitive national badminton leagues, where he helped Badminton Esbjerg reach fourth place.

In the men’s singles, Sam defeated Markus Nielsen in straight sets (13-21, 16-21). He later partnered with Fedir Tiurin to secure another victory in the third men’s doubles against Emil Jørgensen and Kristian Emil Ellegaard Østfeldt (22-24, 16-21).

His standout performances in this league bode well for his upcoming challenges – Sam’s first international tournament of the year in Iceland, and the National Championships in Malta later this year.

Well done Sam, and best of luck for 2025!
