The popular weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’ is known for updating its followers with the latest weather forecasts and interesting facts. Today, 24 years ago, in the year 1999, the highest temperature ever felt by the Maltese islands was measured, that of 44°C!

The temperature was measured at 5:00 pm when the sun is supposed to be setting. The page said that day the "beaches were packed with people due to unbearable heat", and some people, especially vulnerable elderly, even died.

This year, July saw the worst that this summer had to offer as of yet, with temperatures reaching 40°C+. August is looking like it’s going to be a milder month with no mention of a heatwave in sight. We will just have to wait and see.

Are you looking forward to the cooler wintery months?
