The Department of Malta has posted a church spotlight on the Annunciation of Our Lady Church in Rabat.

Dating back to 1418, the church and adjoining convent were generously donated to the Carmelites, offering a rich tapestry of historical significance. One striking detail highlighted in the photos is the church's evolution, notably the removal of its belfry in February 1693.

This architectural adjustment followed a powerful earthquake that rattled the island, causing considerable damage to the nearby Mdina Cathedral.

The images posted by the Department of Malta not only showcase the enduring beauty of this religious landmark but also offer a visual journey through centuries of architectural history.

Have you ever been inside the church of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Rabat?
