Heros! 73 officials from Malta’s Armed Forces and Civil Protection Department off to Libya after tragic storm
Best of luck!

Emma Galea

After the tragic damage caused by Storm Daniel in Libya, 73 officials from Malta’s Armed Forces and the Civil Protection Department are off to one of Malta’s neighbouring countries to help with the horrible repercussions.

In the past few days and hours, thousands of Libyans lost their lives and thousands more are still reported missing.

The Maltese contingent will continue helping with the recovery of the many people still missing whilst also assisting with the many medical issues and injuries a lot of Libya’s citizens are facing.

They left the Maltese islands with one of Malta’s Armed Forces ships last night and should have arrived by now.

This marks the third time that Malta has assisted other countries during the aftermath of natural disasters. The first one being during the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and the second time being during the wildfires in Greece.

Thank you for your service!
