Goodbye 2024! Here’s what the weather in Malta is looking like for the final weekend of the year
It looks like we’ll be having a mix of weather conditions this weekend!

As the year winds down, the weather remains a significant factor for outdoor plans and ferry services. Following a blustery Christmas, the effects of the recent swell continue to make their mark.

In fact, today, Friday, 27th December, the Valletta Ferry Services announced the suspension of the Sliema-Valletta and Three Cities ferry services due to challenging conditions in the harbour.

Similarly, Gozo Highspeed updated passengers regarding its schedule, noting a delayed start, with its first trip starting at 10:45am from Valletta and the same goes for Gozo.

According to Maltese Islands Weather, the weather is expected to stabilise slightly, with partly cloudy skies dominating Saturday 28th December. Temperatures will peak at 17°C, though the real-feel temperature could dip to 9°C, so layering up is advisable for those venturing out. Winds will moderate to Force 3-4, providing some respite from the earlier bluster.

As we approach the year's final hours, isolated showers are anticipated for Sunday 29th December. The temperature will again reach a high of 17°C, while the real-feel temperature will bottom out at 10°C. Winds will further ease, dropping to Force 2-3 by the evening, creating a calmer atmosphere to end the weekend.

While the improving wind conditions over the weekend are encouraging, travellers should stay tuned for updates from ferry operators as schedules may still be affected.

Whether braving the elements for an outdoor adventure or planning a cosy indoor gathering, the weather promises variety as we say goodbye to 2024.

What are your weekend plans to end 2024 in style?
