Good luck! Maltese youth sailors gear up for Optimist World Championship in Argentina
It’s all happening from the 5th to the 15th of December.
Five talented young sailors are set to represent Malta at the prestigious Optimist World Championship, scheduled to take place in Mar del Plata, Argentina, from the 5th to the 15th of December.
The team, led by seasoned Optimist coach Ivan Vasilev, has undergone intensive preparation to proudly compete on this global stage. Months of dedicated training have sharpened their skills, ensuring they are ready to take on this significant challenge.
The squad is made up of Isaac Azzopardi, Liam Andrew Cutajar, and Aleksandra Nagrudnaia from the Birzebbuga Sailing Club, along with Sebastian Miceli Demajo and Timothy De Cesare of the Malta Young Sailors Club. Beyond their sailing drills, the team has also engaged in team-building exercises to strengthen their coordination and camaraderie.
The sailors are set to depart for Argentina this Friday, ready to embrace the competition that promises to test their abilities and determination.
The Malta Sailing Federation emphasised the importance of this milestone, highlighting the growing prominence of Maltese sailing on the international scene.
