Good luck! Malta’s Japan Karate team heads to Tokyo for Funakoshi Gichin World Cup
This championship brings together 130 countries in competition

This weekend marks the 16th edition of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) Funakoshi Gichin World Cup 2024 in Tokyo, Japan, where the local JKA team will proudly fly the Maltese flag.

The championship aims to promote the global dissemination of Karatedo and foster world peace, following the teachings of Supreme Master Funakoshi. With approximately 130 member countries, the JKA has hosted the Funakoshi Gichin Cup every three years in various locations worldwide.

The Maltese team, led by Chief Instructor Sensei Dario Chircop, consists of Erika Galea Gusman, Basti Attard Littschwager, Liane Chircop, Nicole Chircop, Matthew Bezzina, and Etienne Ceci Bonello. They are set to showcase their skills and sportsmanship on this prestigious international stage, competing at different levels of the martial art.
