A total of three talented Maltese athletes will be competing.
By the end of this week, a dedicated team from Malta weightlifting will embark on a journey to India, where they will proudly represent Malta in the prestigious Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships.
The championships will feature competitions for youth (Y), juniors (J), and seniors (S) categories, showcasing the talents of weightlifters from across many Commonwealth countries.

The Maltese team heading to the championships consists of three exceptional athletes: Kim Camilleri Lagana, Tenishia Thornton, and Rylee Borg. Assisting them in their endeavours will be their coach, Jesmond Caruana. Each athlete will be competing in different weight categories.
Kim Camilleri Lagana, a remarkable talent in the weightlifting community, is set to compete on Wednesday, the 12th of July, in the 45kg category, competing against participants from the youth, junior, and senior divisions.
Her recent accomplishments include her successful participation in the European Championships U15, where she displayed her exceptional skills and won three bronze medals.

Additionally, together with Rylee Borg, the talented weightlifter is simultaneously preparing for the upcoming EYOF (European Youth Olympic Festival) in Maribor, Slovenia.
Tenishia Thornton, another accomplished athlete representing Malta, will be competing in the 59kg category on Thursday.
With her determination and skill, she aims to make a significant impact in the junior and senior divisions. Currently, she is also focused on her preparations for the European Junior Championships, scheduled to take place in Bucharest at the end of this month.

Rylee Borg, an aspiring weightlifter, will be participating in the 81kg category for the youth, junior, and senior divisions. Such competitions provide an excellent opportunity for Rylee to test his abilities and gain valuable experience in the international weightlifting scene.
With their dedication, skill, and the support of their country, they are set to leave a lasting impression at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships and continue to inspire future generations of weightlifters in Malta.
