Global spotlight! Maltese sister bowlers featured on World Bowls ahead of Junior Indoor Championship, starting today in Hong Kong
Rebecca will be representing Malta in Hong Kong

The Maltese sisters, Rebecca and Connie Rixon, have made a name for themselves in the world of lawn bowling, a sport similar to the typical Maltese game of ‘bocci’. While Connie was silver medallist in the World Bowls Indoor Championship in Guernsey in April, Rebecca will now be competing at the Junior Indoor Championships of Lawn Bowling, taking place in Hong Kong between today, 2nd December, and Sunday 8th December.

The two sisters have been featured in an article on World Bowls, an international federation of the sport, with Rebecca interviewed by World Bowls media officer Ceris Hewlings, speaking about the sisters’ love of bowls.

Through the interview emerged the siblings’ support for each other, as well as the friendly rivalry they have, which helps spur them on in training and goal setting for upcoming competitions. However, their affection for one another is clear, with Rebecca saying that ‘watching family playing in huge competitions can be more stressful and nerve-racking than actually playing in them [herself].’

Rebecca expressed her excitement to represent Malta in the coming days, saying that ‘making it to the finals is the main focus and coming away being in the top three would be great.’

Best of luck, Rebecca!
