Global recognition! Maltese artist Anna Calleja chosen for ‘The Great Women Artists’ residency in Italy
The local artist has also had her work exhibited in London, Paris, Berlin, New York City, and Dallas

Anna Calleja, having stunned in Malta and overseas with her beautiful oil paintings with distinctly domestic themes, has now been selected for a prestigious residency titled ‘The Great Women Artists’ at Palazzo Monti, a cultural centre in Brescia, Italy.

Anna is one of three who, following the residency, will participate in a show curated by Katy Hessel, a British art historian, columnist at the Guardian and founder of ‘The Great Women Artists’. The exhibition will take place on Saturday 30th November between 6 PM and 9 PM.

This is not Anna Calleja’s first time having her work recognised on a global level, having exhibited her work in galleries in London, Paris, Berlin, New York City, and Dallas. In 2022, she was awarded the Premju Ghal-Arti for Best Young Artist by Arts Council Malta, and is clearly just at the beginning of a very promising career.

Congratulations on this honour, Anna!
