If you’re a fan of 'The Count of Monte Cristo', it seems you’re in good company! Last night, over 5 million viewers tuned in to watch the television mini-series of the same name on Rai Uno, making it the most-watched programme on Italian TV for the evening.

With an impressive 5,005,000 viewers, the first two episodes set the stage for what’s sure to be a captivating four-week run, with the next installment airing on Monday 20th January.

Directed by Bille August, this fresh take on Alexandre Dumas' classic features a stellar cast, including Sam Claflin ('Peaky Blinders', 'The Hunger Games'), veteran actor Jeremy Irons, and French actress Ana Girardot. Adding local flavour, several Maltese actors brought their talents to the production, with familiar faces such as Mikhail Basmadjian, Nicholas Gauci, Joe Azzopardi, and Sandie Von Brockdorff, among many others, taking on various roles.
