Glimpses of elegance! Check out these beautiful photos of a Common Gull-billed Tern soaring above Għadira Bay
This bird was probably in search of a snack or two!

Birdlife Malta recently treated bird enthusiasts with stunning photos capturing a rare sight: a Common Gull-billed Tern gracefully soaring above Għadira Bay and the Għadira Nature Reserve. Despite the spring migratory season winding down, this elegant visitor from the African continent showcased the beauty and unpredictability of birdwatching.

While many migratory birds have already settled into their European summer habitats and are busy raising their young, encountering such unique species during this quieter period is a delightful surprise.

The photos shared by Birdlife Malta and taken by photographer, Aron Tanti, highlight the bird's elegant flight as it gracefully searched for a snack before continuing its journey elsewhere.

Even during this transitional period, predicting the next bird sighting remains a challenging task, adding an element of excitement and wonder to every birdwatching adventure.

With each sighting, nature enthusiasts are reminded of the importance of preserving habitats like Għadira Bay and the Għadira Nature Reserve, which provide vital refuges for migratory birds on their remarkable journeys.

Have you ever seen the Common Gull-billed Tern live in action?
