Malta International Airport (MIA) has some exciting news for the future! They’ve just announced a huge €345 million investment plan for 2025 to 2029, aiming to make the airport more efficient, sustainable, and ready for even more passengers.

MIA

MIA CEO Alan Borg shared details about some upcoming projects, including the much-anticipated Apron 8 South Project and the Westward Expansion. The Apron 8 South will increase aircraft parking by 40%, helping the airport keep up with growing demand. The Westward Expansion, a 1,550-square-metre terminal extension, will make arrivals smoother and more comfortable for everyone.

And there’s more to look forward to, with the Eastward Expansion set to add a massive 6,000 square metres to the terminal. This will mean more check-in desks, gates, and space for travellers, making departures quicker and easier. Plus, the new extension will be directly connected to the Park East car park, making it even more convenient for passengers.

Sustainability will be taking a front seat in the developments too. As part of the project, they’re working on their largest photovoltaic farm to double their clean energy output by 2025, plus upgrading heating and cooling systems to reduce their carbon footprint.

With all these exciting developments and eco-friendly initiatives, it looks like Malta International Airport is getting ready for a bright future!
