The actress of Maltese descent, Marisa Abela, has been wowing crowds ever since her portrayal of Amy Winehouse in ‘Back to Black’ shot her to stardom, recently gracing the cover of the prestigious Elle magazine and being named ‘star of the season’ by Vanity Fair.

Her remarkable talent has gained international recognition, culminating in her being bestowed the Next Gen award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival last night. A social media post captured moments of her acceptance speech, which came after a signature screening of 'Back to Black', and a video of her as she celebrated the honor with a friend.

The prestigious film festival also featured appearances by stars like Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, and Demi Moore, who received the festival’s Icon Award for her outstanding career, including her recent performance in the body horror film ‘The Substance.’

Congratulations to Marisa Abela on her continued success!
