Together for Ajay!

As the country reels in from this week's horrifying traffic accident, which led to the unfortunate death of 28-year-old Nepalese delivery driver Ajay Shrestha, the community is banding together to give him a proper send-off.

An online fundraiser has been launched to get Ajay's body back home to his loved ones to help them mourn the loss of their loved one and allow him to rest in peace.

All proceeds will go towards supporting Ajay's family and funeral services,” the fundraiser reads.

€1,000 has been donated so far.

Similarly, the Msida St. Joseph's Football Club announced that they will be organising a one-day football tournament in honour of the late Ajay.

"Two days ago, we were all horrified with the news that we lost our Nepalese brother, Ajay Shrestha, in the tragic traffic accident at Marsa. Ajay was a much-loved member of the Nepalese community in Malta and we are still shocked to deal with his sudden loss,” the club wrote.

At Msida St Joseph, we all knew Ajay as he was part of a Nepalese team who played regular football at the Msida Ground," it continued.

The tournament will be held at the seven- a-side ground at the Kulleġġ San Ġorġ Preca Education Hub in Msida on Sunday 27th February at 11am.

"We have invited the Nepalese community for a last salute and to present flowers. But everyone is welcome to join," said the football club.

Although the entrance is free, a donation to Ajay's family to cover funeral and other related costs will be appreciated.

Rest in peace, Ajay!
