From author to artist! Discover ‘The Other Side’ of Francis Ebejer in a new exhibition at Valletta's MUŻA
The 28th of August 2025 will mark 100 years since the local literary giant was born.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of acclaimed novelist and playwright Francis Ebejer, MUŻA is hosting a special exhibition titled ‘In-Naħa l-Oħra: Francis Ebejer il-Pittur’, running from 12th to 31st August 2025.
While Francis Ebejer is widely celebrated as one of Malta’s most influential playwrights and literary figures, especially for his contributions to post-1960s theatre and his role in shaping a distinct Maltese voice, this exhibition reveals another side to his creative legacy: his work as a painter.
Curated to highlight this lesser-known artistic pursuit, In-Naħa l-Oħra (literally meaning The Other Side) offers a glimpse into Ebejer’s visual world. Through his paintings, visitors are invited to explore the personal and expressive dimensions of an artist best known for his words.
The exhibition is being held in a newly opened space at MUŻA, Valletta’s national community art museum, providing the perfect setting for this rare artistic showcase.
