A great initiative!

Some good news for Casa Amalia goers! Those people that use this Gozitan home for the elderly’s services, will now be provided free transport all week round.

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri noted that previously, the service was provided from Monday to Friday, but this has now been extended from Monday to Sundays, including public holidays.

Casa Amalia, found in the heart of Rabat Victoria, is a privately-run residential home for the elderly with which the government has agreed to use its services for dementia care. The minister said that “this will ensure that our elderly is being given high quality care. Apart from this, this service will reach more elderly who find it difficult to get to the home if they don’t have anyone to take them there.”

Casa Amalia offers a safe space for elderly throughout the day, as well as a night shelter and respite for elderly suffering from dementia. The home has 23 beds and offers its facilities both for single persons and well as couples.
