As in any general situation, it’s important to take the necessary precautions, including while flying. The World Health Organization has clarified the best type of masks you should be using when jetting off somewhere during this somewhat peculiar time.

What kind of mask should I wear while flying during COVID-19?
“People 60 years or over, or who have serious chronic illnesses or underlying health conditions, should wear a medical mask while travelling. This provides greater protection from others who may have the virus.”
“People who feel healthy and have no symptoms can wear a fabric mask to prevent the virus from spreading to others,” a WHO infographic shared to socials noted.
This comes as Maltese health authorities’ position on face shields changed. “The use of visors alone is discouraged,” authorities shared yesterday in a new guideline document pertaining to new measures introduced. “Since we do not yet have evidence that face shields are as effective as source control or protection from respiratory droplets as masks, we recommend that masks should be used in preference to visors (or in conjunction with them).”
