Gozo’s Teatru Astra have announced the return of Giuseppe Verdi’s, ‘Giovanna d’Arco’, an opera which has not been performed in Malta since 1852, a whopping 171 years ago.

It was premiered at the Royal Opera House in Valletta but never brought to Malta’s theatre scene ever again.

Giovanna d’Arco will be performed on the 24th and 26th October, 2024 but no tickets are available for sale as of yet.

The rare yet impressive opera is loosely based on the life of the prolific female warrior, Joan of Arc as she fights alongside the French army and their king, leading them to their victory against the English.

Not to be missed!
