Lisa Iglesias uses an early, labour intensive animation technique to create her videos. The artist composes thousands of individual drawings and collages on paper that she then documents in sequence to produce a sense of motion. Iglesias emphasizes the handmade quality of her animations through her attention to repetition and imperfection, producing looping moving pictures. Lines and forms continuously and irregularly jump, producing a frenzied visual energy. Iglesias teases out the 360-degree gesture of drawing and video production, taking a look at the causal relationships between time, subjectivity and wonder. Lisa Iglesias is part of Spazju Kreattiv’s artists’ residency programme. The event is open to the public for free.
