Daqsxejn Ta’ Requiem lil Leli is presented as part of Ljieli Teatrali, a festival celebrating contemporary Maltese theatre through a curated programme of acclaimed stage productions experienced in a cinematic setting. By bringing these productions back to audiences in a shared theatrical environment, Ljieli Teatrali offers the opportunity to discover important Maltese works for the first time or experience them anew. The festival celebrates Maltese theatre as an art form that continues to resonate long after the curtain falls.
Theatre Anon brings Immanuel Mifsud’s poignant meditation on the life of an ordinary man to the stage in a visually striking and deeply moving theatrical experience. At the centre of the story is Leli, a life-size puppet who revisits the defining moments of his life as it nears its end, inviting audiences to reflect on the beauty hidden within everyday existence. Accompanied by Kris Spiteri’s original orchestration and Vince Briffa’s visuals, this production transforms a simple life into a vibrant celebration of the human experience. Both touching and playful, Daqsxejn Ta’ Requiem lil Leli delivers a performance that mesmerises and delights in equal measure. Originally premiered at the Malta International Arts Festival in July 2018, the production returned to the Manoel Theatre as part of Theatre Anon’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
