This weekend, as part of the activities being held during the Medieval Mdina Festival, Heritage Malta is opening the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina at the reduced price of €2.
On Sunday, 5th May, from 9.00am to noon, children and accompanying adults are invited to participate in an event filled with special activities which are being organized by Heritage Malta in collaboration with BirdLife Malta, in the front courtyard of the museum.
The event ‘Welcoming the Swifts’ is aimed at creating awareness about our breeding birds, particularly the Common Swifts and the Pallid Swifts. There will also be a number of activities mainly aimed at children which will however be of interest to adults.
Activities will include:
• Cool facts - biology, anatomy, feeding, some general facts and personal experience of how to take care of Swifts;
• Scientific aspect - ringing, migration and personal experience about the ringing of Swifts;
• Historical aspect - folklore, Swifts in medieval times and how these birds came to Malta;
• Game - a map with dices ‘Swifts Migration Journey from Africa to Europe’ with small presents for winners.
