The il-Ħagar Heart of Gozo Museum is presenting Reluctant Modernism: The Art of Guzeppi Briffa starting Sunday, 21st June. Curated by Dr Christian Attard, the massive exhibition features one hundred and ten pieces highlighting the artist's church commissions, draughtsmanship, painterly sensibility, and engagement with popular culture. The selected works illustrate Briffa's unique position balancing traditional nineteenth century clarity with emerging modern visual concepts.
The extensive showcase is organized in coordination with the 29th edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival. The official public opening ceremony is scheduled for eleven in the morning on Sunday. Visitors can view the retrospective free of charge daily from 9 in the morning until 5 in the evening, with the exhibition running until the 8th of September.
