Organised by Festivals Malta, the Malta International Arts Festival runs between June and July and presents a varied and multi-disciplinary arts programme that embraces music, visual arts, theatre, dance, opera, installations, films, community projects, and interactive and participatory events that explore and build upon cultural heritage. Drawing audiences during the height of the Maltese summer, the festival revels in Malta’s unique historical and geographical setting by featuring site-specific productions with performances staged by such distinctive sites as Neolithic temple sites, Baroque architecture and the stunning Grand Harbour. With a focus on artistic excellence, The Malta International Arts Festival connects local talent with international artists, fostering cross-border and interdisciplinary collaborations, commissioning new work and hosting artist residencies, masterclasses, and workshops. Accessibility is at the heart of the festival, with a diverse programme that appeals to different audiences while promoting broader tastes in culture and the arts. With Malta’s remarkable position in the middle of the Mediterranean and abundance of natural and historical attractions, the Malta International Arts Festival presents an appealing highlight of the summer calendar for locals and visitors alike.
