"The Other Side of Everything" (Cert:12A)
Genre: Documentary (Serbian/France/Qatar)
Produced by: Mila Turajlic, Carine Chichkowsky
For Serbian film-maker Mila Turajlic, a locked door in her mother’s apartment in Belgrade provides the gateway to both her remarkable family history and her country’s tumultuous political inheritance.
Produced by: Marcos Kantis, Martin Lehwald
It depicts the transformation of a strong woman torn from her contented world during a sailing trip. When she becomes the only person to come to the aid of a group of refugees shipwrecked on the high seas, she is shown the limits of her importance and of the empathy of her cultural milieu. She is left slipping impotently from one nightmare to the next, and by the end she is forced to recognize that there is no way to counter the cruelties of real life.
"Woman at War" (Cert:15)
Produced by: Benedikt Erlingsson, Carine Leblanc, Marianne Slot
"Halla, a woman in her fifties, declares war on the local aluminum industry to prevent it from disfiguring her country. She risks all she has to protect the highlands of Iceland-but the situation could change with the unexpected arrival of a small orphan in her life."
Light refreshments will be served between screenings.
