Exhibition

''Life and Passion Revisited" is a solo exhibition by renowned Maltese artist Caesar Attard, curated by Norbert Francis Attard, at Valletta Contemporary. The exhibition draws from an unfinished project dating back to 1985, where Attard embarked on a series of religious-themed drawings. These drawings eventually gave rise to two sets of etchings, the first displayed in 1992, while the second set remained unfinished until now.

Attard's decision to revisit these works reflects a deeper exploration of their technical, thematic, and iconographic challenges. Having initially hesitated to share these pieces, he now confronts them through the lens of the digital age, inviting reflection on how belief, interpretation, and contemporary realities intersect.

The exhibition presents the tension between past and present, offering an opportunity to reconsider the artist’s journey and the significance of these works in today’s context. Attard’s diverse artistic background, which includes drawing, painting, participatory art, and installations, provides a rich foundation for this exhibition, showcasing his ability to evolve and engage with new mediums over decades.

"Life and Passion Revisited" invites viewers to engage with both the historical and modern dimensions of Attard’s art, encouraging dialogue about the enduring relevance of religious themes, the role of the artist in society, and the impact of technology on the interpretation of art.
