The concerts which will take place on 17th and 18th of July at the Granaries in Floriana will be organised by the Malta Tourism Authority and include the participation of the BBC Concert Orchestra and Liam Gallagher, former singer with Oasis.
The executive producer of BBC Radio2, Anthony Cherry, said that the BBC orchestra was set up 60 years ago and 60 professional musicians contribute to the weekly concert known as Friday Night is Music Night. The Malta concert will be transmitted on BBC 2 at the end of September to an estimated audience of 15 million listeners.
Cherry said that the concert entitled, Lights Camera Malta, will be the first of its kind outside of the UK, and will take place with the participation of renowned British singers. He said that the concert will include songs from popular music which are linked to the world of the cinema and the films which were shot on the Maltese islands.
The next day, there will be another concert on the Granaries with the participation of the former Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher. He said that both concerts will be open to the public for free.
