Due to public demand, Barocco Foundation will present a repeat of the concert performed by superb tenor Alan Sciberras and international pianist Sofia Narmania who are gaining popularity with local and foreign concert-goers. The duo will perform a programme of captivating operatic arias in a lunchtime concert.
The concert highlights the works of the world’s foremost opera composers, namely Verdi, Rossini, Puccini and Cilea. The programme features Verdi’s Celeste Aida from the opera “Aida”, and Dei Miei Bolenti Spiriti and the Prelude from “La Traviata”. The programme also includes Puccini’s Recondita Armonia from “Tosca” and Che gelida manina from “La Boheme”. The repertoire ensues with Cilea’s Lamento di Federico from “L’Arlesiana”.
Outstanding pianist Sofia Narmania will perform piano solos which include Pachelbel’s “Canon in D major”, Mascagni’s Intermezzo from “Cavalleria Rusticana”. Chopin’s “Nocturne in c sharp minor” and “Etude Op. 10 no. 12”.
After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a free guided tour of the remarkable monastery museum which showcases its striking, historical and sacred ornaments in the fascinating monastic chambers.
